May I tell you my WHY? Why this space?
For me, creating jewelry is more than wrapping gemstones in gold or silver, it’s a process of being in a moment, an expression of relationship with the Creator. Faith, belief, relationship with Him is an integral, inseparable part of who I am. It’s an indwelling expression released in an out-flowing expression. I believe we are created in the image of the Creator, and within that image we too hold creativity; a creative DNA that longs to be expressed. I love the quote by Bill Johnson, who, in speaking of the Creator says, “ When He speaks, He creates.” If this is true, and I believe it is, then there is something within us demanding expression through creativity. My designs are an expression of that relationship with the Creator, of what I am learning in the current season, drawing from scripture, pulling from all of life.
This is where I will try express verbally some of the creative whirlwind of a process that surrounds the evolution and birth of the various pieces. Each piece is meant to hold meaning, to remind you of a truth in the hiddenness of it. Much as I love stamped jewelry with its clear messages, I love subtlety and mystery more. I create from a place of hearing, sensing, feeling. I love the concept of “memorials”, those real life objects, that like the Biblical altars, point me back to a time, causing me to remember the goodness of God, His provision and faithfulness in my life. My jewelry pieces are my “memorials”. My hope is that they will also hold meaning for you in your life’s journey.
So, this space is dedicated to the process of walking out my faith; listening to what is being spoken in the season, and fleshing it our through the creative process of jewelry-making.
